Session 4 2024 4/5 PM: Let's Create a Board Game
Session 4 PM: July 8-19
Age / grade level: 4/5
Teacher: Ms. Caroline Fraser
Description: Let's make a board game! We will begin by testing out some of the most popular board games and learning about the essential parts of a good board game. Then, students will use their imagination and creativity to invent their own board games! They will design and decorate their boards and other game pieces and practice procedural writing to create instructions for the game. We will finish out our exploration by taking turns playing everyone's games! Students will leave this exploration with a new appreciation for board games and their very own board game to play with their family and friends!
Teacher Bio: I grew up in Colorado Springs, CO, and I have been living in Tuscaloosa for about five years. In May 2023, I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Over the past two summers, I have been working as a STEM teacher for B.L.A.S.T. Academy! Now, I am a Fourth Grade Teacher at Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools- Elementary, and I am earning my Master's degree from UA. In my free time, I love to run, hang out with my friends, and most of all read! I am so excited to be apart of Summer Explorations this year!
