Description: Get ready to learn how to engineer musical recordings! In this class we will discover:
--What makes musical instruments work (we will discuss acoustics: the scientific study of sound)
--How to play instruments (by studying our notes, rhythms, techniques and other aspects of music)
--The basics of being a recording engineer (as we record ourselves playing!)
--Reasoning skills with sudoku
Teacher Bio: Mr. Deric Whatley is the music teacher at Capitol School. He earned his Master's Degree in Music Composition from The University of Alabama and has more than 20 years experience teaching music (from kindergarten to the University level). Mr. Whatley has called Tuscaloosa home since 1995. He has also taught at Cottondale and Lake View Elementary Schools in the Tuscaloosa County system.
