Session 4 2023 MS AM: From Mind to Page: Writing a Play
Session 4 AM: July 24-Aug 4
Age / grade level: MS
Teacher: Mr. Panciera
Description: Students will be given the opportunity to collaborate with their peers to write their own play! We begin with conversations about what we like in plays and movies and how we can incorporate that into our own work. This will include elements such as planning dialogue, action, and costume. Students will have the opportunity to read some contemporary plays and watch some performances, both old and new, from which to gain inspiration. This will be done with the goal of having the play that students write in this class be performed by the afternoon class, From Page to Stage.
Teacher Bio: Mr. Aaron Panciera is an M.A. student in English Literature at the University of Alabama, where he teaches discussion sections on American Literature. Before enrolling at UA, he was a substitute teacher at Grasso Technical High School in Connecticut, where he spent time as a long-term substitute, teaching 11th and 12th grade math. Mr. Panciera spends most of his free time reading, writing, making hummus, and taking long, meandering walks around Tuscaloosa. When he finishes his graduate program, Mr. Panciera hopes to teach middle school and/or high school.
