Description: Using the children’s book “A Ticket Around the World” by Natalie Diaz and Melissa Owens as a anchor, we will learn about the six populated continents through visiting 13 countries (Canada, United States, Costa Rica, Brazil, France, Morocco, Greece, Jordan, Botswana, India, China, Australia and the Philippines. The lessons will include reading, math, geography, science, music and movement through inquiry activities. Each day will focus on one of the 13 countries. We will learn about the language spoken and written, foods eaten including a daily snack representative of the country, music, animals that live in that country, weather and other interesting facts about each country.
Teacher Bio: Dr. Tania McKey is a lifelong educator and leader, who is focused on literacy and providing all children with a world-class education. She has spent over 26 years in PreK – 20 public education as a teacher, International Baccalaureate coordinator, assistant principal, principal, Title 1 coordinator, and director of federal programs in Minnesota, Texas, Indiana, Alabama, and Oregon.
Dr. McKey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Education from Concordia University (in St. Paul, MN), a MA in Urban Education from Hamline University, and a Doctorate in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum from Auburn University.
Please fill out all information for each child's first registration. For additional registrations, you only have to complete the required information.
Note: This cost is for the registration fee only. You must pay the balance of the total camp cost by the first day of camp. Information will be provided in your receipt or you can pay here: SE2023 Summer Camp Balance. You should also receive an email a week prior to the start of camp with payment information. You may also pay in the office.
