Description: Learning another language and culture helps students develop new perspectives, communicate with a wider range of people, and improve their self-confidence. In this session, students will learn about celebrations, traditions, and food across the Spanish-speaking world as a vehicle for learning the Spanish language. All levels are welcome!
Teacher Bio: Ms. Emma Bearden is the Spanish teacher for both the elementary and upper school at The Capitol School. She holds a B.A. in Communicative Disorders and Spanish and a M.A. in Spanish Literature from The University of Alabama and has experience teaching kindergarten through college level students. She has studied and worked as a graduate assistant at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia and loves incorporating different cultures and traditions into her lessons. She values connecting with people from all backgrounds and hopes to instill that passion in her students. In her free time, Ms. Bearden enjoys crafting and runs a small business with her fiancé selling candles and ceramics.
