Session 2 2023 2/3 AM: Ocean Explorers: STEM Style
Session 2 AM: June 20-30
Age / grade level: 2/3
Teacher: Mrs. Lauren Amundson
Description: Welcome to the world of Ocean Explorers! During this Summer Explorations session we will learn about all things marine biology as well as famous ocean explorers. Each day will consist of a new lesson on specific content based on the materials/information we are discovering that is related to the topic of interest. An activity will follow the lesson for the day and the materials will be placed on a shelf for the child to utilize during the appropriate time. The shelf-work will grow by the day and the children will have more to explore as the session goes on. There will be activities, crafts, books, etc. for the children to explore when not engaged with shelf-work.
We will be involved in a handful of crafts and stations throughout the session as well. I am very excited to explore the world of Ocean Explorers, STEM style, with your child. We will learn about the many characteristics that involve ocean life. We will also be discussing and observing sea shells, as well as making imprints of our own! STEM will play a huge role in this session and students will be involved in various STEM challenges correlated with our ocean theme. This will also include learning the engineering process. These are just a few things we will be exploring during this summer session!
My hope by the end of the session is to have your child inquisitive about ocean life and what it entails. I want them to have gained knowledge, but I also want their knowledge to continue to grow (through curiosity) as they explore their findings. Thank you for allowing your child the opportunity to experience my summer explorations class! We are going to have a blast!
