Session 1 2026 MS PM: Building Number Sense
Session 1 PM: May 26- June 5
Age / grade: Middle School
Teacher: Ms. Laurel Drake
Description:
In this 2-week course, students will study numbers and operations on an intuitive level, and use of the Prime Board to practice multiplication. This is the number sense underlayment to higher math that students need to succeed in middle and high school math. We will also take on practical math problems that are encountered in everyday life, taught at an understanding level, not as a procedure. These skills include making purchases, deciding which product is cheaper, figuring out discounted prices, considering unit prices, calculating gas mileage and more. At the end of this course, students should feel more relaxed and confident when doing math problems!
If you take Building Number Sense during Session One, you can take it during Session Two to continue your learning. You do not have to take it during Session One to take it during Session Two. All Middle School age students are welcome.
