Description:
This nine day session will include activities that teach financial literacy… considering needs vs. wants, spending, saving and giving, and budgets. Exciting simulations including running a business, pitching ideas to a “shark tank” and operating a community non-profit will make the experience meaningful. Students will use the four mathematical operations to solve word problems with money, solve problems using simple fractions and decimals, and interpret data using a variety of graphs to solve problems. Money theme board games and children’s literature will add to the fun! Opportunities to create products and design marketing strategies will stretch their imaginations!

Teacher Bio: Ms. Fain enjoys combining fun and learning for boys and girls attending Capitol School Summer Explorations. She has provided creative, challenging camps and classes since 2015. This summer promises to combine her skill and interests from her career of over forty years as a professional educator teaching in Huntsville City schools, at the Capitol School and now working with students at Athens State University. She earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama and continued extensive graduate studies in Developmental Learning. Her teaching style includes an interdisciplinary approach that combines academic content, student interest, children’s literature, and the arts. Her class this summer, Money Mavericks, will encourage students to think independently and to collaborate, accept leadership roles and to explore new and different ideas thinking like successful entrepreneurs.

Note: This cost is for the registration fee only. You must pay the balance of the total camp cost by the first day of camp. You may also pay in the office.
