Description:
It's For the Birds is a summer experience for bird lovers and the curious about birds of Alabama. During this session, learners will observe birds in multiple locations in Tuscaloosa, Greene and Jefferson Counties. Learners will identify common birds and their nesting habits and migratory routes. Each learner will have the opportunity to build and paint a bird box that can be taken home and enjoyed all year. We will travel to the Lucas Learning Farm to see bluebird boxes that are in use and to observe local birds. We will travel to the Oak Mountain Bird Rehab Center in the Birmingham area to learn about how injured birds are helped and released into the wild. We will also visit the River Walk in Tuscaloosa to observe the water birds that use the river as their primary habitat.
