Description: Get your tin lunch pail ready and join us as we travel back to the time of the Laura Ingalls Wilder! We will be reading a few chapters of the book “Little House in the Big Woods” each day so that we can complete it in the two week session. Comprehension and vocabulary lessons will be included. In addition, the students will get to participate in period activities such as games, music, cooking over an open fire, making candles and soap, sewing, reading from a “Primer”, doing lessons with chalk on a slate board, learning the responsibilities of a teacher, and more!
Teacher Bio: Sheila Hallman holds a BS and MA in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama. She taught 1st through 3rd grade for 32 years in the Tuscaloosa County School System and 8 years at American Christian Academy. Her passion for teaching has expanded for the last several summers at The Capitol School in the Summer Explorations program! She lives in Northport with her husband and her adorable shihtzu Marley. In her free time she loves traveling, baking and decorating.

Note: This cost is for the registration fee only. You must pay the balance of the total camp cost by the first day of camp. Information will be provided in your receipt or you can pay here: se2025_sc_balance. You should also receive an email a week prior to the start of camp with payment information. You may also pay in the office.
