Session 4 2023 MS PM: From Page to Stage: Performing a Play
Session 4 PM: July 24-Aug 4
Age / grade level: MS
Teacher: Mr. Panciera
Description: This course will occur in roughly two sections. In the first, we will talk about the mechanics of stage production. We will perform acts from famous plays in class, giving students an opportunity to participate in multiple different roles, both “back stage” and as performers. In the second portion of the course, we will prepare to do a staged reading of the play written by students in the morning class, From Mind to Page. We will foreground allowing all students to fill roles to their strengths and in which they will most enjoy themselves. This will give students an opportunity to bring their peers’ creative work to life!
Teacher Bio: Mr. Aaron Panciera is an M.A. student in English Literature at the University of Alabama, where he teaches discussion sections on American Literature. Before enrolling at UA, he was a substitute teacher at Grasso Technical High School in Connecticut, where he spent time as a long-term substitute, teaching 11th and 12th grade math. Mr. Panciera spends most of his free time reading, writing, making hummus, and taking long, meandering walks around Tuscaloosa. When he finishes his graduate program, Mr. Panciera hopes to teach middle school and/or high school.
